Quaint Cyclades: 7 nights / 8 days - Evvia - Kea - Kythnos - Serifos - Syros

Introduction

Sandy beaches, traditional life, folk music and very warm and hospitable islanders with isolated chapels is this quaint Cyclades trip of a lifetime. With gems like Kythnos, Serifos, and also an outreach to Syros the capital of the area, rarely found on sailing itineraries.

This is a magical trip of the lesser-frequented Islands of the Cyclades. The first three days can be combined with Hydra, Poros and Aegina to form another itinerary to Athens.

DAY 1 SATURDAY - LAVRION TO EVVIA

After check-in, we set sail from Lavrion for a refreshing swim stop arriving at our first island. Evvia is the second largest island in Greece. The island hides a special charm to its fertile land, endless beaches and thermal springs which all together create a unique beauty.

DAY 2 SUNDAY - EVVIA TO KYTHNOS (SANDBAR BAY)

After breakfast we sail to the next island. Kythnos has landscapes that will stun you, colours and scents of the Aegean, narrow streets of cobbled stone, all proving that majesty is often found in simplicity! Kolona beach is the most famous and a unique beach in the Cyclades because is a strip of sand hence the name 'Sand Bar Bay' that connects Kythnos with the small island of St Luke.

DAY 3 MONDAY - KYTHNOS TO SERIFOS

We set sail for Serifos taking in the beautiful views of the Greek coastline. The island is untouched by mass tourism but at night it becomes one big party as the tables fill with appetisers, ouzo, coffees and other drinks. At sunset, watch the world go by. Take the walk up to the top of the town the 'Hora' for magical views from the island.

DAY 4 TUESDAY - SERIFOS TO SYROS

Your next stop, Syros Island, has the air of a classy capital because it is the capital of the Cyclades. It is crowned with Catholic monasteries and churches. Built on two hills, the main town has a dual identity. Ermoupoli has high-ceilinged neoclassical buildings and true lived-in city with locals going about their daily life. The island has impressive beaches as well.

DAY 5 WEDNESDAY - SYROS TO LOUTRA

Loutra is in the northern side of Kythnos. Loutra (the Baths) have been inhabited since ancient times due to the existence of drinking water and the natural harbour. It’s one of the most famous places of spa tourism in the Cyclades due to the hot springs.

DAY 6 THURSDAY - LOUTRA TO VOUKARI

Kea is a small and beautiful island in the west of the Cyclades. It provides a scenic variety: steep mountains, small fields, olive groves, vineyards, valleys, picturesque coves, exciting hiking trails and off-the-beaten-track beaches. You can find the largest oak forest where bird-watching is a real delight and plenty of small caves. Arriving at Voukari is special but going up to the hidden-away Hora for dinner is special.

DAY 7 FRIDAY - VOUKARI TO LAVRION

We return to Lavrion marina in the late afternoon. If you wish you can head out to explore Sounio particularly if you'd like to see the reputed third temple in the Athenian Temple triangle - from the Acropolis in Athens, to the Temple of Aphaia on Aegina to here in Sounio.

DAY 8 SATURDAY - FAREWELL

Check out time 9am.

Airports & Transport
Closest: Athens International, Greece (30 mins drive)

Bus: Suburban (KTEL) buses leave from Athens airport usually every hour and go to Lavrion via Markopoulo. Buses from Markopoulo to Lavrion are very frequent. The first bus departs from Athens airport to Lavrion at 06:30 am and the last bus at 22:00 pm.

Ferries: Lavrion Ferry Port (5 mins walk)

Visiting Sounion – Temple of Poseidon

The last night (Friday night) can be used to visit Sounio because the yachts return to the marina early evening. It is 20 mins drive by taxi to Sounio center.
