Mljet National Park is a large area that borders two saltwater lakes that stretch for about 4 kilometres. We arrive at Polace where there is an entrance to visit the National Park and very close to the lake to visit the small island/islet Melita (Sveta Marija) with a large building of the former Benedictine monastery, built in the 12th century. You can hire mopeds and cars to explore the island, or use the standup paddleboards in the relaxing lagoon.

According to legend, the island of Korcula was founded by Trojan hero Antenor in the 12th century BC. It is a spectauclar medieval walled city reputed to be Marco Polo's birthplace. It is very much a cocktail bar atmosphere with lasting sunsets and live music quarters to relax at with a drink after dinner.

Scedro is a protected nature park and an island a few kilometres off the south coast of the island of Hvar. The name comes from štedri, meaning charitable in old Slavonic, because the island offers two deep, well-protected coves. According to the centuries-old Hvar Statute of 1331, the island was communal property and reserved for use as a pasture because it is very fertile, with a mild climate. Thanks to night dew it was used to grow grain. Around 30 people live on the island in summer.

Hvar Island is best known as a summer destination. The highlights of Hvar port town include its 13th-century walls, a hilltop fortress and a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. The island has a hidden and fascinating museum of intricate work made from strands of the algarve plant, and also features beaches such as Dubovica and inland lavender fields.

** Overland Explorer ** - as a mid-week opportunity to enjoy Hvar Town before the party crowds arrive, you can explore the harbour and island as you wish, making your way overland to Starigrad (the original capital of the Island) then onto Vrboska the village of bridges and location of a striking fortified church, the only one of its kind in the area. The boat will be docked here in the marina.

"This Dubrovnik to Split trip was exactly what we were looking for. The Hvar overland explorer was excellent and perfectly timed in the middle of the trip too! It was so great to have the chance to see all three places on Hvar - Hvar Town, Starigrad and Vrboska! Well done Getaway Sailing on a truly unique aspect to this very established sailing route."

Delna and James - Sydney, Australia

"Thanks Getaway Sailing for making my dream come true. The National Park is spectacular and we saw dolphins which is amazing having them swim beside our boat."

Hills - Oxford, U.K.

"The Catamaran was awesome! Croatia has spectacular scenery, and perfect weather. A truly memorable holiday. There were four couples on the boat and everyone commented on the attention to detail from this company and their Welcome Pack of info. It put us at ease immediately and their checkin centre in Dubrovnik Marina made arrival and departure very smooth . The hardest thing was waiting 9 months for the holiday! ."

Gordon - Perth, Australia

"We were invited by our friends doing this trip and so happy we did! The swimming and Island hopping during the day was incredible, but the evening stops were exceptional. The combination of food, location and atmosphere onboard the Catamaran was really special. Having a local skipper that took us to a few of the hidden places was extra special"

Andy and Fiona - London, U.K.

"I wish I'd tried a sailing holiday years ago! It is so different being able to see a new place each day without packing the bags! Thanks to our skipper Ivan and Georgia for organising it all."

Peter - Swansea, U.K.

"Thank you very much for a fantastic trip. Perfect combination of fishing villages and the buzzing Hvar"

Thor - Svelvik, Norway
