Day by day

We welcome you to check in then we leave the marina sailing under the impressive Franjo Tudman Bridge, heading for the gorgeous and unspoilt Elafiti Islands. Our first evening will be on the Island of Sipan at the village of Sudurad. There is a traditional konoba (restaurant) overlooking the small fisherman's harbour.

This charming konoba still houses an ancient olive oil press; a stone wheel turned by donkeys to crush the olives. Wake up in time for a morning swim and a walk around this picturesque village, find classic Croatian homes made from the sand coloured stone that is typical of this region.

First meal: D - Onshore at First Island

Docking: Fishing Harbour - Walk On/Off as you wish

Mljet National Park is a large area that borders two saltwater lakes that stretch for about 4 kilometres. We arrive at Polace where there is an entrance to visit the National Park and very close to the lake to visit the small island/islet Melita (Sveta Marija) with a large building of the former Benedictine monastery, built in the 12th century. You can hire mopeds and cars to explore the island, or use the standup paddleboards in the relaxing lagoon.

B - Onboard, L - Onboard, D - Onshore

Docking: National Park Entrance - Dinghy to shore

According to legend, the island of Korcula was founded by Trojan hero Antenor in the 12th century BC. It is a spectauclar medieval walled city reputed to be Marco Polo's birthplace. It is very much a cocktail bar atmosphere with lasting sunsets and live music quarters to relax at with a drink after dinner.

Docking: ACI Marina Korcula - Walk On/Off as you wish

Scedro is a protected nature park and an island a few kilometres off the south coast of the island of Hvar. The name comes from štedri, meaning charitable in old Slavonic, because the island offers two deep, well-protected coves. According to the centuries-old Hvar Statute of 1331, the island was communal property and reserved for use as a pasture because it is very fertile, with a mild climate. Thanks to night dew it was used to grow grain. Around 30 people live on the island in summer.

B - Onboard, L - Onboard, D - Onshore

Docking: Mooring buoy - Dinghy to shore

Hvar Island is best known as a summer destination. The highlights of Hvar port town include its 13th-century walls, a hilltop fortress and a main square anchored by the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral. The island has a hidden and fascinating museum of intricate work made from strands of the algarve plant, and also features beaches such as Dubovica and inland lavender fields.

** Overland Explorer ** - as a mid-week opportunity to enjoy Hvar Town before the party crowds arrive, you can explore the harbour and island as you wish, making your way overland to Starigrad (the original capital of the Island) then onto Vrboska the village of bridges and location of a striking fortified church, the only one of its kind in the area. The boat will be docked here in the marina.

B - Onboard, L - Onshore, D - Onshore

Docking: ACI Marina Vrboska - Walk On/Off as you wish

After a morning swim at Bol we arrive in Milna; still reputed as the most beautiful and the safest harbour of Brač. Stone houses along the beautiful long coastline are small masterpieces. In the village there is also a beautiful Baroque church with a typically Dalmatian bell tower. The interior of the church hides impressive works of Venetian masters. Its scenic beauty and irresistible charm of a typically Dalmatian “small town”, Milna will enchant you with its healthy Mediterranean cuisine abundant in fresh fish, quality olive oil and home-made wines.

B - Onboard, L - Onboard, D - Onshore

Docking: Marina Vlaska, Milna - Walk On/Off as you wish

Hvar Overland Explorer - Wednesday

Our Hvar Overland Explorer day lets you decide between a day onshore or staying on the boat. To have time onshore we drop you at Hvar Town in the morning and sail the yacht to the other side of the Island to ACI Marina Vrboska where you will meet us in the afternoon/evening as you wish. You then have the time to enjoy Hvar Town during the day (without the party tourist atmosphere at night), plus have the time to visit Starigrad then onto Vrboska where you can have a relaxing night's sleep.

Should you decide not to explore overland, stay onboard the boat and take in the coastline from the yacht. The next day we go to famous Bol Beach for a swim on the way to Brac. Overland costs are your own and not included in monies paid to Getaway Sailing.

"This Dubrovnik to Split trip was exactly what we were looking for. The Hvar overland explorer was excellent and perfectly timed in the middle of the trip too! It was so great to have the chance to see all three places on Hvar - Hvar Town, Starigrad and Vrboska! Well done Getaway Sailing on a truly unique aspect to this very established sailing route."

Delna and James - Sydney, Australia

"Thanks Getaway Sailing for making my dream come true. The National Park is spectacular and we saw dolphins which is amazing having them swim beside our boat."

Hills - Oxford, U.K.

"The Catamaran was awesome! Croatia has spectacular scenery, and perfect weather. A truly memorable holiday. There were four couples on the boat and everyone commented on the attention to detail from this company and their Welcome Pack of info. It put us at ease immediately and their checkin centre in Dubrovnik Marina made arrival and departure very smooth . The hardest thing was waiting 9 months for the holiday! ."

Gordon - Perth, Australia

"We were invited by our friends doing this trip and so happy we did! The swimming and Island hopping during the day was incredible, but the evening stops were exceptional. The combination of food, location and atmosphere onboard the Catamaran was really special. Having a local skipper that took us to a few of the hidden places was extra special"

Andy and Fiona - London, U.K.

"I wish I'd tried a sailing holiday years ago! It is so different being able to see a new place each day without packing the bags! Thanks to our skipper Ivan and Georgia for organising it all."

Peter - Swansea, U.K.

"Thank you very much for a fantastic trip. Perfect combination of fishing villages and the buzzing Hvar"

Thor - Svelvik, Norway

Visiting Dubrovnik Old Town

If your checkout is Dubrovnik, the last night of your sailing trip can be used to visit Dubrovnik Old Town because you will stay overnight in Dubrovnik Marina still with your accommodation onboard the yacht or catamaran which is only 15 mins by road to the Old Town. Checkout is the next morning.

Checking In

For your convenience we have our own check-in centre inside ACI Marina Dubrovnik.

We are the first check-in office en route with a large four metre high Getaway Sailing flag to stand out.

We are the only 'foreign / non-Croatian' company to have an office inside the marina which means you can easily find us and relax on arrival because we aren't checking you in on the footpath amongst the crowds.

Private Transfers

If you are arriving by car we are the closest check-in office to the drop-off location at the front of the Marina. You will have the opportunity to organise a private transfer with us by requesting it online in our Client Login area.

Rental Cars

If you are renting a car before or after your sailing holiday, you can connect seamlessly from car to boat or boat to car by booking your rental car through us. The car rental provider will then dropoff or collect your car from our office.
