We welcome you to check in then we leave the marina sailing under the impressive Franjo Tudman Bridge, heading for the gorgeous and unspoilt Elafiti Islands. Our first evening we eat in a traditional konoba (restaurant) looking out to sea.

This charming konoba still houses an ancient olive oil press; a stone wheel turned by donkeys to crush the olives. Wake up in time for a morning swim and a walk around this picturesque village, find classic Croatian homes made from the sand coloured stone that is typical of this region.

Round off the evening with a walk around the bay to a waterfront cocktail bar. Tomorrow morning you have the time to enjoy the salt water lakes in the heart of Mljet National Park. DAY 3 MONDAY - POMENA TO KORCULA OLD TOWN

After a morning explore of the national park, it’s on to Korcula, the reputed birthplace of Marco Polo. Korcula is a vibrant, exciting place, a mini fortress enclosed with honey coloured stone walls. Around the city walls you will find many bars and coffee shops where you can sit and watch the world go by. We arrive early to enjoy everything this island has to offer. Meander the labyrinth of the old towns' narrow streets, delightful to get lost along the way. Aim to find your way to the gothic renaissance building of St Marks Cathedral. There are many historical buildings to view and explore and boutiques and galleries with locally produced arts and crafts. All this, set amongst spectacular scenery and a backdrop of dense pine tree forests. Round off the afternoon by sipping cocktails at the trendy Bar Massimo. This exquisite cocktail bar is situated high up a narrow castle-like staircase in the old guard tower right on the waterfront with spectacular sunset views out to sea.

Sailing in these waters offers a different perspective of the stunning coastline, whilst enjoying the favourable sailing conditions in this section of the Korcula Channel. Take the helm or sit back and enjoy the ride. If you love to sail, today is a great day! After mooring the yachts, we have a very special evening planned. We leave the island by water taxi and invite you to indulge your palette for some wine tasting in the most stunning location. After sampling wines looking directly out to sea, we take you up into the hills to a rustic restaurant setting with stunning views across to Korcula and some of the islands we have visited. Try the walnut, raisin or herb rakija (local Brandy) as an apéritif then taste a delicious Croatian dish called Peka, which consists of seafood or meat. "Taste of Croatia is a sumptuous trip, mainly because of the international crew and great organisation. Our Croatian skipper was a blast and our guest manager had everything organised. Korcula was my favourite destination, with cocktails up an ancient monument as the sun went down. We saw 5 dolphins, swam in coves every day and ate incredibly well.

Getaway found a few exclusive venues that were stunning - a winery tour and hill top hideaway restaurant to get away from the crowd. If I can I will definitely do another trip. The team have an international flavour that is smart, sociable and special.

Jon - London, U.K.

"Brilliant week! The holiday with the mostest, with the expert Susan putting together a superb itinerary. It certainly gave us a real flavour of Croatia and I will be back. The boat was magnificent, a real treat. Thank you to Jack the skipper."

 Fiona - Bristol, U.K.

"Our trip was totally relaxing and we could be involved with the actual sailing of the boat to any level we chose, secure in the knowledge that our experienced and very competent skipper was on hand at all times. For the most part we just lay back and enjoyed the magnificent combination of brilliant blue water and gorgeous island scenery. Tour Manager Tony Zucco makes every effort to make his cruises memorable for his guests. On each day there was a highlight which varied from a medieval town to a hill top restaurant which combined traditional dishes with wonderful views. Would we go again? If we did not live on the other side of the world we would be signing on tomorrow."

David and Thea - Waihi, New Zealand

"As a recently single lady with no desire to simply go on a sun holiday and sit around the pool relaxing, I decided to go on a sailing trip and found Getaway Sailing. With trips for SOLO travellers and over 50’s it looked perfect. With much trepidation I phoned Getaway to discuss whether someone like me would fit in as I had never gone on this type of holiday before . From the very first phone call I knew that I would be welcomed with open arms and not regarded as a loner with no-one to go on holiday with. I phoned several times to ask questions and they were so helpful and always there with an answer and to assure me that I would be really welcomed . I was very nervous about flying out to meet strangers on my forthcoming trip but from the moment I arrived at the marina to meet my fellow passengers and crew my fears were forgotten. The laughter started immediately and continued for the whole week. It has changed my life. I made so many friends from different walks of life and different nationalities that we hope to meet up later this year on another trip around the Greek Islands and I am even considering going on a second trip to Croatia, I loved it so much. I have found myself again after a traumatic period in my life so a HUGE thank you to all the staff of Getaway Sailing. See you soon."

Lyn - Surrey, UK

"Every so often, one comes across an experience in life, so great that one is left almost speechless. That is how I would describe my experience on a Getaway Sailing holiday in Croatia. Why? Well I'll try to put it in words! Firstly, there is the beauty of the secluded and unspoilt Islands, the little restaurants and taverns, and there is of course the sailing where you can learn as much or as little as you want. But mostly, the experience is about the warmth and professionalism of the hosts in how they created a 'family' from a bunch of solo travellers (albeit a very interesting bunch!). A 'family' that enjoyed fun events, beautfiul meals, crazy conversations and afternoon swims in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic. There was a perfect balance between organising events and allowing us time to explore. I made friends for life on this trip, simply magnificent!!"
